What is a Class B CDL and is it the right choice for me?
Class B CDL allows you to operate a single GVWR/GVW of 26,001 pounds or more. Class B vehicles include smaller trucks such as buses, dump trucks, tow trucks, delivery trucks, and garbage trucks.
Class B jobs will often be local and home daily jobs. If you want to drive a tractor trailer across the nation, a Class A license is going to be a better option for you.
How much does earning a Class B license cost?
Obtaining your Class B license can cost up to $3,600.
While the cost of obtaining your license may feel initially overwhelming, there are several options to assist you with funding, including:
- Grants
- Loans
- Employer Reimbursements
Will I need any specific endorsements to drive a Class B vehicle?
Different types of vehicles have different endorsement requirements. The most common requirements for Class B vehicles are related to busses and are often referred to as Class BP(S).
A Class BP(S) allows drivers to operate buses weighing over 26,000 pounds that can carry 16 or more passengers. The “P” and the “S” in a Class BP(S) stand for “Passenger” and “School Bus”.
Many of our campuses offer Class BP(S) training to compliment training and help you secure the type of employment you’re seeking.
